SONG OF THE DAY

I was at my homie's spot this past weekend and this joint dropped. It kinda caught me off guard, I think cuz I've been feeling like this emotion of rediscovery has hit me with certain 80's joints that I hear now. I don't know if I am looking at it from a Hip Hop stand point or just music in general. Regardless, this jointski right here is definitely official yahmean.

SONG OF THE DAY

After a crazy weekend in the black apple, I came back to the hometown and had to make a pit stop over at my homie's bbq down at Roosevelt Park official dundee South Philly. Good peoples, and over course bad ass little kids with water balloon fights. To make a long story short, while everyone was playing baseball, I heard this jawn drop on the wheels, and was instantly taken back to the nastalgic moments as a young buck. Damn life is but a dream. Shoutouts to my pops for putting me on to good music, and a special shoutouts to to my man's son Siah. Happy Bornday youngworld. My life wouldn't be the same if I didn't meetchu.

Good Times..AYEEEEE

SONG OF THE DAY

Last night was another night for the summer in the city I call home in Philadelph. Another lounge, club, etc. Another mixed drink, beer, etc. It felt different though. Almost like I am on the verge of saying goodbye to this place sooner than I think. I woke up and heard Drake's version of Aston Martin Music with Rick Ross called Paris Morton Music. It hit me. It'll do the same for you. Bigg up to nahright.com and hiphopdx.com

SONG OF THE DAY

I hit up one of my favorite websites this morning, hiphopdx to be exact and was pleasantly surprised when I heard the new single from Gucci Mane ft. Swizz Beatz called "It's Gucci Time." I diggs Gucci's style, but initially though Swizz wasn't gonna come hard, but the joints knocks like a SWAT team at a drug raid!! Peep the Dopeness Below!

VINYL TRIP

The album "Rhapsody In White" has to be one of the smoothest albums ever! Way before acts like Maxwell or D'angelo were doing their renditions of silky Rn'B Barry White was setting the bar! This 1973 release was produced and conducted solely by the immortal White himself. With Barry at the helm the Love Unlimited Orchestra's lush strings glide effortlessly across the timeless 70 grooves! The song "Baby Blues" an ode to panties is the must hear track of the album! White even developed the art concept (which is amazing)! Long live Barry White!

MEMORY LANE MONDAYS

About a week ago I was buildin with my homie Tola about music. After some good green and in depth politickin about the infinite search for good music, he put me on to this famed Cambodian singer of the 1960's by the name of Sinn Sisamouth. This cat was extra fly with his shit yo. I prolly grew up to his music and didn't even know it while listening to cassette decks around my parents as they chilled out on the summer nights. This is a rendition of this joint called "Sugar Sugar." This dude is GQ.

Nuff Said!

VINYL TRIP

The liner notes of John Coletrane's Infinity read: "To perceive again and this time it must be said,. for all who read to know that no matter what, it is all with god. . ." Such a spiritual statement is a perfect introduction to some of Coltrane's rich, swirling, and magical free-form music. Originally I was drawn to this lp (from my fathers collection) by it gorgeous cover art-work, but once I placed the needle to the plate I was overwhelmed by Coletrane's wandering saxophone over Alice Coletrane's lush string arrangements. I wouldn't recommend this album to a casual jazz listener, but This album's enchanting and deeply layered sound is truly amazing!
