It's about that time!!!!

Spring is in the air and the 2010 baseball season is just around the corner! Will the Phillies repeat as National League Champions and make another run at the World Series? Only time will tell. The current mediocrity (and worse) of the other 3 Philadelphia sports franchises makes the Phillies success all the more exiting. There was a rally at city hall today to unveil one of the 25 custom painted Fanatics that will be placed around the city for the "Paint the Town Red" campaign. The weather was beautiful, the crowd was lively, and the Fanatic was. . . uh, RED!

This guy is in the spirit!

MEMORY LANE MONDAYS ON TUESDAY!

That's right I said it! We doin it big for those Ruby Tuesday cats lookin for the shot of dopeness today! Takin back to the O.G. of them all, the first House Party Movie out in 1990! Yes the very first of the series..nuthin but classic lines and actors on the set that would pave ways for many after them. And the illest thing about this movie wasn't the fact that Full Force was on it but that it really promoted the whole"Don't Do Drugs" thing. Man if parties would only rock like that now with no weed and other forms surliness. But what can I say but blame it on the Al-Al-Alcoh-ALCOHOL..Damn.

Up Up and Away,

I heard this joint as one of the singles of Alicia's latest album entitled, "The Element of Freedom," but didn't really pay it no mind, until last night on my way to step outside with a lady friend to get a few drinks and link up with the homies. Called, "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart," this joint is off the motherfucking chain!!!!! Keepin the appetite for romance statisfied, I know this album is a must have!

6th Man of 2010??

The NBA is lookin real crazy this season from headbands, to guns(Ahem Gilbert Arenas) and kicks. Who knows which team is really gonna go and take the chip in the finals. While all the Cavs fans want the KING to finally solidify his status with the greats and truly go down in history, there's still the defending champs, who haven't gone anywhere and a slew of other mind-blowing teams that can have a chance at taking what is better than hot sex onnna platter. The trophy.

While all the politicks swirl around for coach of the year, MVP(Kevin Durant All Day) and all that other rigmarole. There's one award that I fancy(PAUSE). I always wanted to write that.

The 6th man of the year. Who is it. Who's the MAN? It's a toss up, but when the coin lands all eyes from my view land on the one and only JR Smith of the Denver Nuggets. If this oop from Chauncey doesn't say this man is straight up Fire, I don't know what else will.

Artists love Sports too Knucklehead!

The Sand Pit

This is an amazing short film by Sam O'Hare that utilizes the "Tilt-Shift" technique. The film shot in New York City, uses over 35,000 pictures in it's entirety. The music is composed by Human with co-author credits to Rosi Golan and Alex Wong. Watch to soak in the beautiful play between figures, structures, and environment!

SONG OF THE DAY

Bringin it back to arguably one of the pioneers of the Auto-Tune. Today's song of the day comes from the legendary combo of Zapp and Roger. I'm a fan of anything if it's done tastefully and these cats right here did their damn thaing with that auto-tune style.!!(RIP)
Though some of today's artists have done a very nice job taking the auto-tune sounds in an original direction(i.e. Kanye West. T-Pain, Wayne), well actually only those three while everyone else just spit out out some ol' hoopla with that jawn that sounded like a dying animal...Man O Man the controversy around this sound!
Anyway, called "I Wanna Be Your Man," put out circa 1987 here it is in the link below!

REST IN PEACE: Notorious BIG

Today marks the 13th annivery of one of Hip Hop's greatest, most electrifying lyricists to ever touch a mic. Christopher"Notorious BIG"Wallace..AKA Biggie Smalls. Biggie was a LEGEND and still IS to this day argruably being the one of the Top 5 Dead or Alive Rappers of All Time.

With only two albums made(Ready to Die and Life After Death) Biggie was the essence of a leader in the spectrum of Hip Hop. I was only 13 when I first heard of him and Junior Mafia. But the poetry he showcased to the world was just indelible, and to this day still will merk a significant amount of artists out now. Below I posted one of my favorite joints he did off of his first LP called "Juicy".

To Biggie. Thank You For blessing us with your talent, love, and music.

-Until Tomorrow

Capilano Suspension Bridge

One of the great things about the city of Vancouver is that you can be downtown one moment, travel 15 minutes, and find yourself immersed in scenery so lush and green you can hardly believe your eyes! The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a must see location if you find yourself in the Vancouver area. Originally built by George Grant Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer and park commissioner for the city. The Bridge runs 450 feet and sits a dizzying 230 feet above the river below. The bridge does more that just give you an immaculate vantage point to observe great natural beauty, once you cross the bridge you enter the "Treetops Adventure" area, a maze of suspended walk-ways that are linked to each other by wrapping around the massive Doug Fir trees. If you get to visit the suspension bridge plan to make a day of it, you won't be sorry!

TRAVEL DESTINATION: PHILADELPHIA

I had to do it to em'. Had to do it to em'! This weekend has been nothing short of GORGEOUS in my hometown of Philadelphia. The "city-town," where you can have a homie, that knows a homie, that knows another homie, and somehow you end up all being connected.

This winter has not been friendly to the east coast as of late with record breaking snow storms but with Spring Season right around the corner, its time to break out the white-Ts, short skirts, fresh fitteds, and most importantly the short skirts!! The green is coming back.. Ahhh all that time in the gym is finally going to pay off...

I linked up with an old friend today and had some brunch at a spot called the Tap Room located at 15th and Mifflin St. Excellent weather. Sittin outside and soaking up the sun!! If you have never been to the Tap Room, get familiar! They all an assortment of beers, and great eats thats not too steep on the pockets. Dopeness for a Sunday in the SUN!!

Until Tomorrow,

I just found out The classic arcade style sports game "NBA Jam" will be re-issued for the Nintendo Wii! As one of my top ten favorite video games of all time I'm elated! EA Sports president Peter Moore comments "NBA Jam is one of the most recognizable franchises in video-game history,Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise". I hope they include the historic duos of, Kemp / Payton, Barkley / Majerle, Jordan and Pippen! Release date is set for sometime in late 2010.

!!!!!LB!!!!!

Man, Listen...Is it just me or does it seem like quality Hip-Hop groups a few and far between these days?? The ones that do put it down I'm either in search of, willing to listen to or a straight up avid fan of. Across the Board. I'm speakin on groups that have made such historical impacts in my life growing to the point where I could hear a song and know exactly what I was wearing, if I had a fresh cut, if the steps were clean and how much money was in my pockets.

There's no need for me to name drop a whole gang of groups but I will highlight one in particular that has completely changed my life for better or for worse. LITTLE BROTHER. The former trio made of Rapper Big Pooh, Phonte, and 9th Wonder, and for a couple of years now just the duo; is coming into their supposed last and final album together entitled "LeftBack," dropping sometime this spring.

I woke up this morning salivating when I gotta chance to click and hear one of the first joints off the project appropriately named "Curtain Call." And let me just say that NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING can top the feeling I get when I listen to these dudes rock together. I could be a grumpy old heart broken bastard! The only group I would pay 10 times over to see live. Even though both respectively have their own endeavors nowadays going on it's just a so fucking DOPE to see and hear them together.

To both Phonte and Big Pooh I thank you for all the music, and knowledge you have given me thus far to be confident in my craft, confident in my relationships, and most importantly confident that good music...regardless of its genre won't EVER DIE.

On my Heartfelt Jawn,

-Miles
